Constellation Wallhanging

In this workshop you will create a small wallhanging of nine stars. The quilt measures 24” X 24”. (kits are available in red, blue, and ecru for $20.00) This quilt pattern is free with your ruler and it is also in the Square in a Square® Book. This is a 3 hour workshop.

Fabric Requirements:
A. 1 yard - Navy
B. ½ yard - Red
C. ½ yard - Light Background
D. ¼ yard - Center of Stars (Optional)

You can use colors from your stash

Cutting prior to class:
A. (4) 1 ¾” x 40” strips (selvage to selvage) - Navy
B. (4) 1 ¾” x 40” strips (selvage to selvage) - Red
C. (2) 2 ½” x 40” strips, subcut into (16) 2 ½” squares - Light Background
D. (1) 2 7/8” x 18” strip, subcut into (6) 2 7/8” squares - Light Background
Bring the rest of your fabric, it will be cut during class

General Class supplies:
1. Sewing machine-in good working order, new needle, ¼” seam foot
2. Threads, bobbins
3. Paper bag for scraps
4. Fabric for class project

Americana Quilt

It's a grand ole quilt! The same 6” Scrappy Star is set together with a unit of (4) stripes. Its so quick and easy! This quilt use country style colors of blue, burgundy, and gold. This quilt measures 69”X 75”. You will get a good amount of this project completed within this 6 hour workshop.

Also a 3 hour workshop with the Americana as a wallhanging is available.This quilt measures 25” x 25”.

This quilt is in the 10th Anniverisy Book page 8 - 9.

Fabric Requirements:
A. Stars-scraps of dark blue 1 ¾” wide totaling about 1 ½ yards of fabric or (25) strips
B. 1 ½ yards - Background-light or gold or a variety to make (60) 3” squares and (120) 2” squares
C. 1 /2 yard - Dark colors (blue and navy) center of stars
D. 1 ½ yards - Red scraps for flag strips
E. 1 ½ yards - Tan or gold scraps for flag stripes
F. 1 ¾ yards - Borders 1 & 3, a dark color print
G. Second border uses scraps from stripes
H. ¾ yard - Binding, a dark print

Dissappearing Star

In this 6 hour workshop you will create, an easy pieced lap quilt which measures 54 ” x 72” Great quilt for using large novelty prints. It is a beginner project. This quilt is in the Square in a Square® Book.

Fabric yardage:
A. ½ yard - Medium color center squares
B. 1 ¼ yard - Light color- 1 st row around center square
C. 1 ½ yards - Medium or dark color – star points
D. 1 ½ yards - Medium or dark color –star points

Triangle Galaxy

A Machine Quilting Primer

Through a series of exercises, learn how to free motion on a home sewing machine. The technique class also covers proper equipment, basting, threads, needles and batting. Hands on exercises give you guidance and confidence in the free motion technique. At the end of the class you will have a collection of muslin squares with samples of your work. This is a 3 hour class.

Beginner Class SUPPLY LIST : **This is a technique class**
1. Sewing machine in good working order, the feed dogs MUST be able to drop. Bring your *Sewing Machine Manual* IMPORTANT
2. Darning foot or spring foot for free motion quilting (bring all your feet if you are not sure which one to use)
3. Tray or acrylic table for your sewing machine, (this is optional)
*4. Sharp or universal needles 80/12
5. (14) 14” - Squares of muslin
6. (7) 14” - Squares of cotton or cotton blend batting. **Please layer the squares together with your favorite method of basting: muslin, cotton batting, muslin. (makes 7  sandwiches)
*7. 50wt 100% cotton tan, ecru or white thread
8. BSS-basic sewing supplies

Get Out Of The Ditch!!

Tired of using your walking foot to do in the ditch work?  Express yourself by getting out of that ditch!  Strap on your walking foot and Kathy will show you how to use that foot to complete beautiful quilts.  This is a technique class, but may bring quilts for a discussion of ideas. Beginner Class, this is a 3 hour class.

Fabric requirments:
1. (3) Fat quarters (color must be darker tone on tone)
2. (3) Cotton or cotton blend battings 18” x 22” pieces
3. (3) fat quarters of muslin for backing
Using the fabrics above, please baste them into (3) sandwiches before class

General Class supplies:
1. Sewing machine in good working order, the feed dogs MUST be able to drop.
        Bring your *Sewing Machine Manual* IMPORTANT
2. Walking foot
*3. Threads-choose a color slightly lighter than your fabric choice.  It should be cotton.  You may also bring a variegated thread.  (no metallics or fussy threads!)
*4. Chalk pencils or whatever you like to draw lines onto your fabric of choice with. Make sure it will show on your fabric

Machine Trapunto

Trapunto adds a third dimension to your quilt.  Learn to do this easy technique by machine.  Create a block which can later be made into a pillow.  Some experience with free motion machine quilting is preferred.  Advanced Beginner, this is a 3 hour class.

Fabric requirments:
A. (4) 14” - Squares of muslin
B. (3) 14” - Squares of batting, cotton or cotton blend
C. (3) 12” - Squares of polyester batting
D. (2) 14” - Squares of fabric of your color choice, something light colored with minimal design on it. Batiks work nicely.

General Class supplies:
1. Sewing machine in good working order, the feed dogs Must be able to drop,
    Bring your **Sewing Machine Manual**
2. Darning foot or spring foot for free motion quilting.(bring all your feet if you are not sure which to use)
*3. Water soluble thread (Vanish recommended)
4. Small sharp scissors for cutting away polyester batting.(Applique' scissors are a good choice)
*5. Cotton thread that is a slightly darker color than the fabric of your choice and ecru thread
*6. Blue water soluble marker, charcoal pencils or whatever you prefer to mark a pattern on your quilt top.
*7. Quilting gloves (optional)
*8. Universal or Sharp 80/12 needles

Let's Doodle Workshop

This technique class teaches how to free motion leaves, flowers, stars and general doodling with your sewing machine’s needle.  You should be familiar with free motion quilting. This is a 3 hour class.

Fabric requirments:
1. (14) 14” - Squares of muslin
2. (7) 14” - Squares of Cotton or cotton blend batting
Please layer the squares together with your favorite method of basting: muslin, cotton batting, muslin.

General Class supplies:
1. Sewing machine in good working order, the feed dogs MUST be able to drop.
Bring your *Sewing Machine Manual* IMPORTANT
2. Darning foot or spring foot for free motion quilting.(bring all your feet if you are not sure which to use)
3. If you have a tray or acrylic table for your sewing machine, (optional)
*4. Threads 50 wt. cotton tan, ecru or white thread, you may bring variegated threads to play with.
*5. Sharp or Universal needles 80/12
6. Bring several bobbins wound with your cotton thread.
